About NetherStart Partners

Complete support for launching your business in the Netherlands, for founders who are new to the Dutch system, whether they are already here or still abroad.

Who we are

NetherStart Partners is an Amsterdam firm with one subject: the launch of a business in the Netherlands. We support a founder from the first decision, the legal form, to the first employee. This site is in English and written for people who have never dealt with the KVK, the Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) or a Dutch notary.

We work for first-time founders; freelancers (zzp'ers) and sole traders with a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak); two founders starting a general partnership (vennootschap onder firma, VOF); a first private limited company (besloten vennootschap, BV); e-commerce sellers entering the Dutch market; and founders who move here to start, US citizens under the Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) among them.

What we help founders do

Our services, in the order a founder meets them.

Choose and register the legal form

We prepare the documents and accompany the owner, who registers at the KVK. For a BV, we assemble the file the notary works from.

Protect the brand name

We prepare the trade mark filing for a new business name or logo together with the founder, who decides what the mark protects.

Open the business bank account

We prepare what a bank, an e-money institution or a payment provider asks for when a new business opens its account. The bank decides.

The money side of the first year

Bookkeeping and VAT returns, payroll administration for the first employee, the founder's income tax and the BV's corporate income tax returns, and fiscal representation arranged through a licensed representative.

Founders who move here to start

We prepare the file for a DAFT, start-up or self-employed residence permit with the founder. The applicant signs, and the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) decides.

Starting in Amsterdam

The launch in the city where our office is, with the local steps a newcomer to Amsterdam meets on the way to the first invoice.

Buying an existing Dutch BV

Buyer-side assistance for a founder who buys an existing BV through a notarial share transfer: we check what the company brings with it before the deed is signed.

How we work, and where our work stops

  • We prepare, check and accompany each step; the founder decides and signs.
  • Founders register their own sole proprietorship or VOF at the KVK; we prepare and accompany.
  • A Dutch civil-law notary (notaris) executes the BV's deed; we assemble the notary's file.
  • The IND decides on permits, banks on accounts, the Tax Administration on returns.
  • We set out the conditions; the choice of form, permit or bank is made in conversation.
  • We do not act as anyone's director or attorney-in-fact, and we do not sell companies.
  • None of us is a lawyer (advocaat), a notary or an accountant.
  • No outcome is guaranteed: not a registration, a permit, an account or a ruling.
  • Our work is priced on request; state fees appear, with their source, where they apply.

Where to find us

Our office is on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. It is the firm's own contact address; the business address we offer clients is the separate service above. Founders who are still abroad reach us by email or telephone, and any question can go through the contact form, which also has the office map. We answer in English.
